Hi all!

The last few months have brought highs, lows and new partners!! Moley is now living with Ronaldo, who she gets on well with, and Freddie and Brutus now have new girlfriends who they adore, so in a personal sense all is well!

Freddie is the superstar of the group at the moment, he has settled in very well at Crayford and has achieved 8 wins from 34 races at the track, and is now in A6 and S4. In March-April he achieved an incredible four wins in a row, and narrowly missed out on a 'Dog of the Month' title. We are all very very proud!

Moley is starting to get back into the winning groove again, and has clocked up 2 E2 wins. She loves long distances (god knows why!) and is frequently seen in M1s as well (874m).

Brutus has had a spell off the track injured, but did not take long to get back on the podium, he is now running well in A7s and S6s. He is very clumsy which does not help him but when he avoids his own feet he does well!! (Hey! - Brutus) He is frequently told by racegoers, kennelhands and racing directors alike that he is very pretty and would win any dog show, but alas this has given him a big head, and we have to put up with it!! The amount of time he spends practising his smile and grooming his ears is nothing short of criminal! And as for the face packs, who knows where he got those!?!?!
(Excuse me Colin, some of us take pride in our appearance!!) Pssssh!

Joani has been off in season and is now trialling back. Hopefully if she decides to she will grade soon.....(is that a dig at me Colin? Don't start on me, at least I have a brain!! - Joani)
Yeah, and at least I'm happy!!

And now onto me. I have been competing in A8s at Crayford in my first races in over a year. Just as I was gaining stamina and fitness and getting back to my old dynamic self (Recording very fast sectionals!) my wrist has begun to trouble me again and I may soon be returning home to live with my Auntie Patsy and Amy, my surrogate mum. Either way, I am glad that the crowds and thousands of viewers on SIS had the pleasure of seeing me standing on my back legs on parade, and almost pulling a parader over. I provided much laughter!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US!! (Well, in 2 days time!) By Moley

Hello funky fans!! It has been an eventful few months, full of ups in trip and downs. I have been running over 6, 8 and 10 bends and enjoying myself!! I am now revelling in the height of S2 at Crayford, where I am engaged to run on Thursday (our birthday!!) Hopefully I can celebrate in style! I have also contested the E1 Crayford Anniversary Cup Final over 714m, where I sprung a 10/1 shock (to lesser educated individuals!) in the heats. Alas, the final was not my night, but I enjoyed being a superstar!! I then ran over 874m in the heats of the Boxing Day marathon and finished 4th, missing out on a Final place by a fast diminishing 3/4 of a length. I hope to be back over the trip very soon! I have now won 4 races at Crayford; E2, S4, E1 and S3, and will soon be victorious over 874 ;-)

Colin has come through his qualifying trials after 8 months off with a bad injury, and will hopefully be making his debut soon. He is easily recognisable as the only dog on parade that doesn't know how to use his front legs!!! Apple of our mum's eye!!

Freddie has been off since the middle of November with a wrist injury, but is trialling back tomorrow over 540 after a very good 380 trial last week, and will hopefully return to winning ways soon - we missed you Fred!!! He is currently 1 from 8 at Crayford with some very decent efforts far from disgracing him.

Brutus is still loving his role as the 'Pretty'one, and is milking it!! You should see him strutting about with his big eyes at kenneling, he thinks trotting for the vet is a catwalk!!!! He won an A8 very impressively after 2 starts at Crayford and has run well in A7 since. He is trialling over 540 tomorrow and will then be a dual distance dog!!

Joani is being Joani. She now has a lovely pink collar with Old Bag written on it, such is her nickname at the kennels, and is actually very proud of it!!! She has now won 2 races at Crayford and has finished a close second in heat and final of an S7 sweepstake. She will be gracing the track again very soon!!

Dear Blog, life is good at the moment. I have a lovely (if a little nutty) boyfriend, and I am settling in well to my new home. Bit noisy, as there are lots of other dogs, but then I thank my lucky stars everyday that Brutus and Colin aren't here yet! So the extra chat isn't that much of an inconvenience!
My boyfriend is a nice guy, very athletic. He's very fast, and a lot of nasty people have made comments that we are ideally suited, as opposites attract. I have taken this to mean that they are implying that I am slow. Whilst I may not be posting the flashy times like a certain fella, I am doing my bit for the planet. Saving energy by running that bit slower, and therefore reducing my carbon pawprint. I don't know what they mean anyway, I was only 2 spots outside grading on wednesday, and this week who knows?
Moley is already being the little darling, acting all cute and innocent and getting people to love her. Ha! Just because I don't really call for fuss 24/7, doesn't mean I'm miserable, ok?? She's also the quickest out of us so far, and she doesn't half know it. Show off!
Freddie's being Freddie. Miserable, quiet and generally minding his own business in dreamland. Although he did come out of his stupor to tell me that he'd beaten me in the trial. Thanks Fred, I've only lived with you for 2 and a half years and I didn't recognise that the big blue backside in front was yours. (Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit - Freddie)
Whatever!!!
Well, I need to go do my daily scrounge for treats, before he eats them all!

Well............where to begin? A lot has happened since my paws last took to the keyboard. I'm still injured, so I haven't been running any races or winning, which naturally a superb athlete like me would do just by stepping onto the track! In fact, I was due to jet off to Beijing with Team GB (should be Team Colin, Colin is the worlds best name, means greatness and superiority in Outer Mongolian, or so my mum says!), but due to my injury I had to stay home, and watch as Usain Bolt won both my medals. I tried making my own out of sand to cheer myself up, then Brutus stepped on them and destroyed them. Typical. (Hey! I said sorry , OK!! - Brutus)
He's always wrecking my things.
Last week, I heard the others talking. Blondie's pups are ready to come to Andys because they're being naughty and tearing up the place, and that we were going to Crayford! I got excited, not because I was going, but because I thought I'd get rid of Brutus, but alas, he's still here, recooperating from his 'injury'. Moley, Freddie and Joani have all gone to a Crayford trainer, and will be commencing their trials shortly. And I'm stuck here. With Him. For A While. G-R-E-A-T. Joani called and hasn't stopped showing off. She's got a new boyfriend, a finalist in a big competition, and she won't stop going on about it, just because he's fast. Well they do say opposites attract, so it could work....only joking Joani, don't hurt me!!!
Me and the Brutey boy will also be going as soon as we are better, and Blondie's babies will come here. From what I've heard, she has her paws full cos there are 2 that are the spitting image of little old moi, and they are just as carazaaaaaay! Awww....two mini me's.........I sense an Austin Powers Movie coming along. Yeah.... Colin Noahs...got a ring to it methinks. I'm off to write the screenplay now!

An update on us.....

Well its been a wile but we've been busy (well some of us have).

Colin has been off with a wrist injury he picked up when he was knocked over in a race in April so hasn't been doing a lot. Brutus has also been off with a wrist injury since June (we think he decided to copy Colin so he could just laze about too).

The rest of us have been working. Moley in particular has been working hard - she came 2nd in a Group 3 Open Race Competition!!!

Anyway Moley, Joani and Freddie have now moved to Crayford to race. They are due to have their first trials in a week, then will soon be racing there.

We will let you know how they et on....watch this space!

Brutus's time to shine!

I rock, I rock I rock, I rock....................................I really do!
Not only am I writing this, but I oblita....obletir..........beat a load of other dogs in S3 on Friday, and am now top dog! Well, theres only two of us running at the moment, and I won (moley only managed 3rd) So i officially rock! (Don't tell Joani though....please....she's mean!)
I wanted to do a lap of victory and sing we will rock you, but they caught me at the pick up and said I couldn't - something about not having the CD.......just can't get the staff!!!

Colin's hobbling around since he got squashed into the sand, looking for sympathy. Kind of stolen my thunder really, and I'm not happy! I mean, he came last, and I won! It should be ME getting all the cuddles!

Freddie's still walking around looking miserable, but nothing changes there. Joani's still mean, i don't like it when she looks at me cos I don't know what she's thinking. Colin's annoying, and Moley's just Moley. She thinks that just cos she's in S1 she's better than me. But I won. HA!

Mummy told me that auntie Blondie has got a new boyfriend, He's called Bungle or something to do with a bear. She went to stay with him last week, and mummy said there may be some little cousins soon for me to babysit, which is fun!!! I've already come up with a list of names:
Brutus, Caesar, Brutus II, Nero, Julius.......basically all after me, which I like. That way, they'll all turn out beautiful and cute and generally brilliant. Can't fail with names like that!

*Cough cough* As you can probably *choke* guess, we are not very well at the moment. I was due to run in the dizzy heights of S2 company after my triumphant victory over lesser rivals on the 22nd Feb, but had to relinquish my place after catching the aptly named kennel cough. ('Ha ha that's a great name - dogs living in a kennel with a cough=kennel cough! Ha!' - Colin) Idiot! Anyway, myself and Joani are both hacking away at the moment, and Joani also had to pull out of an A7 because of it ('Not Happy!' - Joani) and as you can probably tell now, she is not happy. She thought that she had a good chance of winning and now is sulking as well as coughing. ('Hey! I'm sick too!! Where's my mention?' - Brutus) Well, I was going to mention Brutus later, give him a paragraph in fact but since he's kindly filled you in, I don't need to now! ('You're mean! That's not fair! I don't like you anymore!' - Brutus) That brings the sulky count to 2, and it means I don't have to listen to Salad boy jabbering in my ear. Result!
Now back to important news...
Moley has marginally bettered my achievements, and boasts the honour of being the first pup to hit top grade. After winning an S2 on 23rd Feb, she took her place in an S1 last night. However, she seemed to have forgotten that to run in a race you need to leave the traps first, and came 4th after having what seems like a fortnights break in room 2 at La Trap hotel. Better luck next time!
Colin ('Yay! Go Me!' - Colin) ok....I'll start again! Colin ran in an A3 Friday night after sitting on his backside for ages while some of us were working! He came last, and his excuse was that he had been off for a while. Personally I think he got far too complacent after his A2 outings and forgot to run as fast. Cabbage!
Of course, since its Mothers Day, we would all like to wish our long long long suffering mum Colleen a Happy Mothers Day, and give her a knighthood for putting up with Brutus for over 2 years without hardly any complaints! Come on Queenie, put her on your honours list!!!

Six Bends and the Sidelines! - Guest edited by Moley

The last few weeks have been busy, busy, busy - well, for some of us anyway!
I've had 3 runs, an A6, which I won, in 26.48 (calc.) and two in A5 in which I finished 3rd and 4th. I ran well but the line just seems to find me too soon!
Colin has now reached the dizzy heights of A2, and in his two runs in that grade has finished 3rd, at 10/1 and 7/1. Well, we never tell him he's the outsider so he runs like a short price! If he reaches A1, he has been promised a rather lovely red tracksuit like the one on the Sport Relief advert, with matching headband of course! He's rather taken with it and thinks he'd look better than the dog in the advert! ('Well, he does look like an idiot naturally so we may as well reinforce that fact' - Brutus). Unfortunately he has cut his foot and has been on the sidelines for a bit, so the tracksuit is still only a dream!
Nero on the other hand ('Oi! It's Caesar!' - Brutus) or whatever he's called, the Roman one, has only had one run in A6, finishing fifth. Must do better!!! Since then he's been sitting about painting his nails, waiting for his next public outing.
Joani has had two runs, finishing third and fourth. She's proud of herself, mainly since she's had more runs than Brutus and thinks she's more popular than him, and its gone to her head! She's been flying around the paddock like a nutcase, jumping on the bed, running in circles and generally interfering with the feng-shui of the place. Typical!
Dear old Freddie has been his usual 'happy' self. He's had two runs and won one, an A7, powering down the run in like the horse he is, winning by 1 1/4 lengths in 26.80, his best time so far. Since then he has trialled over six bends, alongside.........................
ME!!! Oh I do love 592 metres! Although Freddie got in my way and made me slow down (Eejit!), I put my all in to record 38.38 - not bad eh! Freddie did 38.90, which is credible too!
So, look out for us in 'S' grades at Harlow soon!

Colin takes the lead!

On Friday, Moley ran in an A6. Unfortunately she found trouble at the first and 2nd bends but finished well to come 3rd.

Three of us ran on Saturday.

First was Freddie in an A7 but he didn't get out well, then found trouble at the first and last bends. Again though, he ran on well and came 3rd.

Brutus was next (in an A6) but he ran straight up the back of trap 4 on the 2nd bend but again finished well to come 2nd.

That left things to Colin who had been upgraded to A3 (top grade of the night) and so had a lot of good dogs and open race winners in with him, thus starting as 8-1 outsider. As the traps opened though he flew out and powered round the first bend in the lead and gained a 4 length advantage over the rest. On the home straight though he was tiring and trap 1 was finishing strongly behind him. As they crossed the line we all thought that trap 1 had just managed to get there. When they gave the result out though they called him as the winner!!! Looking at the replay we could just see Colin's nose edge over the line first!!

That now takes him to 4 wins, ahead of Moley and Brutus with 3. Freddie and Joani still only have 1 win each.

As of the 8th of Jan we will no longer be puppies!!! We will be celebrating our 2nd birthday which means we are now too old to run in puppy races...

Where did the time go??

Watch out for us at Harlow, at least one of us is racing every week, sometimes even all 5! Colin, Moley and Brutus are now all on 3 wins each while Joani and Freddy are lagging behind on 1 win each....

Trophies!!

Moley and Brutus both won again!!!!!
Not only that but they were in sponsored races so both won trophies and got their photos taken for the throphy presentation!!! The rest of us are very jealous, we want one!!

Brutus led all the way from the start but Moley did it the hard way (again) and came from the back!!! She came out of the 2nd bend in 3rd place and got crowded at the 3rd bend but managed to keep going to get in front at the 4th bend.

They are now joint 1st with 3 wins each. Colin is 2nd with 2 and Freddy and Joani are bringing up the rear with 1 win each.

The rest of us are determind to catch up!!!

Joani has now won a race so that means that we are all now winners!!!

Colin, Moley and Brutus are in the lead with 2 wins each and Freddy and Joani are now both on 1 win!!

Brutus has also won this week, with Colin coming 6th after almost getting knocked over and Moley coming very close but getting 3rd. Freddy picked up a scrape in the paddock whilst we were doing our daily exercise so didn't run this week but he will be back next week - he has to keep up with us on 2 wins!!!

Hopefully we will all keep running and winning next week!

Colin has won again!!!

Not only did he win, he did it in style, 10 lengths ahead of any of the others AND in his quickest ever time!!

Moley also ran a good race in a good time and came 2nd!!!

The rest of us didn't get a chance of running this week but we are all raring to go and hope to run next week!!

No Luck This Week....

None of us had any luck this week. We all ran but a combination of not getting out of the traps quick enough and getting bumped about in the races meant none of us won. Joani did best - she came 3rd, Moley, Brutus and Freddy all came 4th and Colin came 5th. We are all OK though and hope to get back to winning ways next week...

Colin Wins!!!

Colin has won a race!!

He flew out of the traps and left all of the other dogs behind, winning by 5 3/4 lengths, which is almost half a second time wise!!!

Moley also won again - thats 2 now!!!
Like Colin she got out of the traps well and left all of the other dogs behind and won by an even bigger distance - 7 1/2 lengths!!!

Freddy also ran and came 3rd in his race. Brutus and Joani didn't run this week. Joani is now the only one of us not to win now, but the rest of us aren't boasting about it - well maybe Moley is a bit (hahaha - from Moley).

More Wins!!

When you last heard from us Brutus had juat won and 3 of us were running the next day...

Well Joani was first to run - she got out with the rest of the dogs and was going well in 3rd place when she ran up the back of another dog on the 2nd bend. She ran on again to photo finish with another 2 dogs for 2nd place. Unfortunately it showed she did not quite make it and was awarded 4th place.

Next was Moley. As she came out of the traps (she was in trap 2) the dog in trap 1 moved out and the dog in trap 3 (both of whome were about 4kg bigger than her) moved in, causing her to be squashed and get forced out the back. She got running again and was making good progress when she was crowded and then on the last bend - as she was over taking another dog - the dog ran off at the bend, taking her out wide with it!!! It didn't put her off though as she powered down the run in and getting into a photo finish!! We didn't think that she made it in time but then the result was read out....... SHE WON!!!!

So with two out of four for the week it was Freddys turn. As soon as the traps open he was of running. He made it to the bend first and then was gone! He led all the way and won in an impressive 6 lengths!!!!

So now thats 3 out of the 5 of us have won and Colin and Joani are comming very close...

Colin (along with Moley and Freddy) is running this Friday so hopefully he can get off the mark!!!

Brutus Wins!!!!!

Brutus has tonight just won his first race on his 4th attempt!!
He is the first of us to win a race and is now bragging a lot about it!! Colin also ran tonight after almost 4 weeks off with a foot injury and he ran really well to get 2nd in a race with 5 dogs that were about half a second faster than him!!
The other 3 of us are running tomorrow night and hope to do just as well as the others - none of us want to be the only one not to have won - and we want to stop Brutus from bragging about being the only of us to win so far!!!

Wish us luck - fingers crossed!!!

First Races

Colin and Freddy have now had their first race!! And Moley has had her second race, her first graded race. All of us are now are now graded on at Harlow so could now be running any Wednesday, Friday or Saturday! Brutus and Joani hope to be running next week!

Anyway, Freddy ran really well and came 2nd after leading most of the way and just being caught on the last bend. Colin fell (literally) out of the traps and Moley came out too slowly so all the other dogs got too far ahead. Moley did manage to overtake one dog and ran on strongly to the end.

Next time they both want to start better so they have a chance in the race and all of us are hoping to be the first one to win!!!

We all had good trials at Harlow last week and are now due to run at Crayford tomorrow. We are trying to get our fitness back after our cough and then hopefully then we will all be able to race!! We don't think its fair that only Moley has been able to so far and we all want to be the one to get a win first!

We're Back!!!

We are now all fully rested and have started running arround in the big paddock again to get our fitness back. The cough has now been gone completely for a couple of weeks.

To get back into the racing game we are now all booked in for a trial on Tuesday 14th August at Harlow - just a 2 bend sprint to start us off but we hope to then step back up to the 4 bend standard trip. We have been to Harlow before - not to race but the Greyhound Show last September - so we know the kennels there already.

Hopefully it will not be long now until we all start racing and winning!!!

Moley's First Race

Moley ran in an Open race (races which only the best dogs go in) at Walthamstow the other day. Unfortunately she came last but we now know the reason why....

A couple of days before her race, the rest of us came down with a cough. Moley wasn't coughing at all and was still running around the paddock at full speed and acting normally so she went to race. Before and after the race, she seemed fine and recovered quickly from the race - didn't seem too out of breath. However the next day she came down with the same cough we all had so we think she may have been feeling a bit under the weather but just didn't show it.

We were all meant to be trialing at Sittingbourne last Tuesday but as we all have a cough we couldn't go so are now having a few weeks off so that we can get rid of the cough. We have all almost stopped coughing now but are having a rest to fully recover.

.....well we could if we had somewhere to run!

We have now had all the trials we need to qualify for racing. The only problem is that only dogs trained by certain trainers can run in graded races at the big tracks. We could run in open races anywhere but we need to get a bit quicker first and gain experience of racing. Moley is the quickest of us all and might be able to compete with a bit of improvement now. The rest of us need to find somewhere which will allow us to race with our current trainer, which is easier said that done!

When we have worked anything out we will let you know but untill then.........

Our Day out at Walthamstow!

We all went to Walthamstow last Wednesday!!!
We all ran a two bend trial - Colin with Brutus, Freddie with Joani and Moley on her own. We all did very similar times - there was only 8 hundredths of a second between the fastest and the slowest!!! Colin won so he is very happy with himself.

We hope to go back there again next Wednesday where we will run further - 430m up from 235m. Then we will have to see where we go from there! We wanna race!!!!

Our 2nd mixed trial

We have now had another mixed trial.

Moley (trap 2) beat Joani (trap 4) and Freddie (trap 6) in the first trial and Brutus (trap 4) beat Colin (trap 2) in the other. Times and comments, as always, can be found on our website.

As Moley has now had her solo and two 3 dog trials, she is now eligible to race. However only dogs who are with certain trainers can race in graded races at Crayford so we have to find a track that will let us run there.

We could move trainers but we like where we live at the moment and don't really want to move! Where else could we get treats through out the day, have lots of runs in a paddock filled with cuddly toys and still live with our mum!!!

As soon as we know what we are doing we will write on here to let you know.

Our First Ever Official Mixed Trial

We have now had a second run around a 'proper' track.

We ran in two different trials, the first with Moley (trap 2) , Brutus (trap 4) and Colin (trap 6) and the second with Joani (trap 2) and Freddie (trap 4).
Moley won with Colin 2nd and Freddie beat Joani.
We all improved on our first times from 2 weeks ago - Moley even did a grading time!!!
Our official times and comments will be put onto the www.noahsgreyhounds.com website when they are available, you will be able to find them on our own individual pages with the times below that of the times we did 2 weeks ago.
This means we are getting nearer and nearer to being able to race.

Unfortunately for the rest of us, Moley is the front runner and so looks like she will win the competition we have between us of who will win a race first - but it all could change!!
You can still vote on our website mentioned above as to wether one of the boys or girls will win first until any of us actually do win - go on, have a go!

We will write again soon, probably when we have had our 3rd trial.

Our First Official Trial

We have now had our very first official trial!!!!

We all went to Crayford today and all had a 380m run on our own. We also had to be marked up, which means we have to have all our different colours and marks put onto a diagram and have our tails, height and around our tummies measured. That then gets sent off and we get our official cards and become able to race.

Anyway, back to the racing...

We all did really well and ran round the whole track. We had problems with the bends at first but soon got used to them. It was the first time we had been racing at a proper stadium so was a new experience for us. It was also the first time we had been 'kenneled' and the first time we had worn racing jackets - we all wore the number three!

Hopefully we will have another run round soon and hopefully improve on our times as we get used to it and get to know the bends of the track.

Our Second Run From The Traps

We have just got back from having our second run around a track and were so excited about having our first 4 bend times we had to write straight away!!!

Moley was fastest followed by Joani, Brutus Freddie then Colin, although there was only about half a second between all of us! All of us have also improved on last time we ran so we are going in the right direction. Look at our individual pages on our website (www.noahsgreyhounds.com) to see the actual times we have recorded for each of our runs.

We have now completed our schooling so our next challenge is to run at a proper track and do good enough times that will enable us to run there and start winning races!!

Our First Time in the Traps

We have now run from the traps!! We found it quite scary at first - especially Colin - but when we saw the hare we forgot all about it and started to run as we usually do.
We have one more run to do on a schooling track then hopefully we get to run on a proper track in our first official trial!! All our times can be seen on our website so take a look to see how are times change week to week as we progress!

Look out for us soon at a 'real' track!!!

Our Fifth Run

Yes, we've had another run around the track!!

We ran another complete lap of the track again. Colin, Brutus and Joani all ran around on thier own. Moley and Freddie ran together for the first time and nothing could separate them - Freddie managed to get the rail so Moley was being held up behind him as she wanted it too!!!
Our plan is to next do another lap, but from the other side of the track and then we get to start on working on how to come out of the traps. After that we can run on an actual track and start winning races!!!!

We Have Names!!!!!

We now have had our racing names decided!!!

Colin will be Noahs Braveheart

Freddie will be Noahs Mercury

Moley will be Noahs Sapphire

Joani will be Noahs Azure

Brutus will be Noahs Caesar

Theses are our official names so when we run it will be under these names.
Loook out for them so you know when we start trialing (we are allowed to from April) and have our first races (which we can do from May).

Of course we will still report how we are doing on here so keep looking!!!

Our Progress

We have had another two runs since we last posted on here. Two weeks ago we all had a solo run around half the track. We all ran really well and chased hard all the way. Then this week we did our first full circuit of a track.

First Colin ran with Moley, with Moley winning by a length, then Freddie ran on his own. Brutus then beat Joani by about 2 lengths. Moley ran close the the rail, Freddie, Brutus and Joani ran in the middle of the track and Colin ran around the outside (he claims this is the best way to run as you are closer to the hare but the rest of us think he's a bit stupid for doing this as you then have to run further!!!).

This was also our first run whilst wearing race muzzles which we didn't even notice we had on as we were so preoccupied with watching the Hare.

Hopefully we will get to learn how to run from the traps next so we can start to get times of how quick we are - we are all keen to have evidence to proove we are the best you see!!!

Our Second Run

We had another run again on Sunday. We did the same as last time again, running two bends in pairs. Colin ran with Brutus, Freddie ran with Joani and Moley ran on her own again.

Colin got a good start again and Brutus was unable to catch him. In fact, he was going so fast that he couldn't stop in time for the hare and so had to stop, turn round and run back to it again. Freddie also 'won' again, beating Joani by taking the bends very smoothly so that Joani couldnt keep up. Moley had to run on her own again as there are only five of us but she didn't mind and ran into the hare at the end again like last time.

We all enjoyed it very much and didnt want to leave - especially Freddie and Colin. Brutus wasn't too bothered though as he couldn't stay if his mummy was going home!!
Next time we are having a slightly longer run so that we go into a bend at full speed for the first time. We should also be running on our own - all of us, not just Moley.

Our First Run Around A Track

Yesterday (21/1/07) we had our first run around a track. We all went to a schooling track with our mum and walked out into the middle of the track. Our Mum then had a four bend handslip, which means she ran one complete lap of the track starting from being held by someone and let go as the hare past, not out of the traps while we looked on. It was very exciting!!!
Colin and Joani then had their go, having a two bend handslip (half a lap of the track) together. Colin really went for it and sprinted after the hare as soon as he was let go. Joani was left behind a bit but was soon gaining on Colin and by the time the hare stopped, had caught up to him! However, they liked it so much, they decided not to stop and run another complete lap before deciding to stop.
Next were Freddie and Brutus. Freddie started first taking the lead, Brutus was a bit hesitant at first but as soon as he realised Freddie was chasing the hare he soon followed. Freddie took the bends very well considering it was his first go so beat Brutus and even dived into the hare at the end!
Moley was last and so ran on her own. She chased hard and went into the hare at the end, just like Freddie!

We all enjoyed ourselves very much and are looking forward to our next go in about two weeks time!!

Anyway, about us, we havent been bak to the track yet because of all the rain. We want the track to be in the best condition possible before we start running on it, just to be on the safe side because it will be the first time we have done it and our bodies will not be used to it yet.
We hope to go in the next week or so..........after all, we can trial in April and run in May and you cant win the derby without any preparation!!!!!!

Merry Xmas from the Funky Five!

We would all like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
We have already eaten our christmas presents early as we couldnt wait. We all had a christmas shaped chew and they were very tasty. Freddie decided he wanted everyones but his own tho and kept stealing everyone elses so we had to be supervised whilst we ate them. Trust Freddie to be difficult!!
Anyway, we will bring you more news of us when we have our first run around a track in the New Year.

Grown Up pictures of us

Well, this is us as we were in the summer and in the last few months. Can you tell which of us is which now that we have grown? As you can see we all love our large collection of soft toys and like playing tug of war with them.

We will try to have some pics of us having our first look of the track soon and the picture of Brutus winning the dog show competition.

Freddy is over 30kg now, thats 6kg heavier than mummy!!!! The rest of us are all over 26kg now as well!!

I know we havent written anything for ages but we have been busy. We are now learning how to run. We have seen a track but although we havent run on it, we watched our mum run and chase the hare round which looked very exciting!!!
We hope to have a go soon!!

We also entered a dog show in september. Brutus won the Best Puppy category and got a trophy, presentation jacket and rosette!!!
The rest of us also won rosettes too!!!

WOW! We are already winning competitions!!!!!

We are nearly 21 weeks old now. We have moved and now live in the country and have a very big paddock to run around in with lots and lots of toys!! We should have more pictures of us comming soon so watch this space.....

Hi, im Moley and I look just like my auntie Patsy, or so I keep being told. Im the only one whose worked out how to get out of the lawned area of the garden so im now instating myself as the cleaverist, just like auntie Patsy!!!

Im Joani and I was the biggest until Brutus overtook me. I like to climb on peoples laps as soon as they sit down and even before if possible. My favourite pasttime is lying on my back on someones lap having my tummy tickled!!

You may know me already, im famous for breaking my jaw when i was young. Im all better now tho and even though im smaller than the rest I like to think im in charge. This is me now and when I was poorly asleep with my teddy.

Injections!!!

We have just ahd our first innoculation injections, all of us and our mum all went at the same time. It was our first adventure outside of our house, wel apart from Colin that is who has already visited the vet on a number of occasions!!!

Food and fences

We are all growing very quickly and every week our weight has been increasing. We are eating more grown up food now, although we still rely on mummy just a little bit to help us grow big and strong. As well as eating our own yummy puppy food, we also steal just a tiny bit from mummy's bowl when she's eating, which is very naughty of us.
We have discovered a new toy - the fence in our paddock! We have been chewing it and removing a few pieces of it so we can have a better look outside. Joani went one step further and tried to go on an adventure to the outside world, but she forgot how big she was and got stuck! She's fine, although she is a little embarrassed, and we haven't let her forget it! We now a have a new found respect for the fence.
Another new thing we have discovered is our voices! We spend hours practising our singing and have become very good at harmonising. Moley is especially good at her soprano part. We often hold late night concerts for our mummy, and at first she is very proud, although after about half an hour she does get a bit grumpy!
Speaking of grumpy, we haven't been able to run around outside as much this week because it has been very cold and rainy and mummy doesn't want us to catch cold. We were very grumpy because of this and decided to play on the bed instead. It was a bit of a state afterwards and needed a wash, but we think the weather wizard got the message - it was dry today and we could play! Yay!!

Food!!

We are all now doing very well and Colin is catching up with the rest of us. We are now starting to eat puppy food but still need our mummy too. We love to play with everything, especially our many toys, newspaper, each others ears/tails and our favouite......... peoples shoe laces!!!!!

Colins Back!!!

Colin has now has his tube, bandage and collar removed and is now back living and playing with us!! He is also making the most of being able to eat and run around again!
The rest of us have also taken our first steps outside in the paddock and have learnt how to jump off of the bed. We all love going out side, all that is except Brutus who thinks its too cold still and doesn't like playing outside!! Big wuss!!

Colin's feeling better

Colin has put on almost 150g in weight in the last two days and says he is feeling a lot better now, even well enough to chase auntie Amy around the floor. He is due to go back to the vets for a check up on saturday to see if his bandages around his mouth and his tube can be taken away.
The rest of us on the other hand are finding out how fun play fighting can be and how fun it is to chew things (especially people's fingers!!) now that our teeth are beginning to come through!!

Trying puppy food

Colin is still wearing his collar and still has his tube in. He comes down to visit us everyday still. The rest of us are now satarting to eat a smal ammount of puppy food, as well as our mums milk. Wwe are not sure if we like it yet, although moley eats more than the rest of us. Colin is looking forward to trying it as soon as he is better, he isn't growing as much as us now so is egar to catch up!!! And we are all sure he will!!!!!

We think mummy must have accidently kicked Colin. He was crying and had to be taken to the vets at 3am!! The vet said he had a broken jaw and needed to have his mouth bandaged up so that it could have time to heal without him moving it. This means he cant feed off of mummy anymore so has to be fed by a tube going up his nose into his stomach every 4 hours with milk. He also has to wear a collar to stop him pulling it out. He can't live with us in the kennel at the moment incase we accidently pull the tube out, so is living in the house where he can be looked after. He comes down to visit us everyday for a few minutes while people can watch we dont accidently pull the tube out. We still miss him very much and wish him a speedy recovery!!

Eyes!!

Our First few days....

Today our eyes are just starting to open and we are begining to try walking, although we are not very good at it at the moment and keep falling over!!! We are putting on weight well, especially Joani and Colin! However, we still need our mummy to look after us, feed us and clean us.
